Linnean Centre for Plant biology

The Linnean Centre kick-off meeting at Wik gathered 42 scientists from the contributing departments: Plant biology and forest genetics, Microbiology, Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology, Ecology, Crop Production Ecology from SLU, Plant physiology, Ecology and Genetics, from Uppsala University and Skogforsk.

Presentations showing the scientific width of the centre -ranging from plant ecology and forest science to in depth molecular biology- were followed strategic discussions.

Common points of interest are the importance of plant biology for sustainable development, exchange of scientific and technical knowhow and sharing of large equipment and growth facilities.

Professor Claudia Köhler is one of the most prominent young researchers in Sweden. The  European Research Council has awarded her a  ECR starting grant for the coming five years on her project ”Mechanisms of polyploidy-mediated postzygotic reproductive isolation”. See press … Continue reading →

In order to collect input from all active plant researchers in the Uppsala region we invite Principal Investigators at LCPU to a start up workshop that will help to get to know each other, to identify our strengths and to formulate our common goals for the new centre for plant sciences in Uppsala.
